Simple Ways To Stay Grounded In Gratitude
The truth about life is that none of us should ever get too comfortable with any of our given circumstances. As soon as we begin to get comfortable, life has a way of shaking our roots and uprooting everything we thought we once thought we knew to be true.
Unfortunately, the constant back and forth of life can be a bit disheartening. It can make you feel like you want to have better roots, be a little more grounded. But being grounded is a feeling than many never accomplish and it is due to a simple lack of understanding of how to achieve a feeling of grounding.
Becoming grounded in your life has less to do with your actual circumstances in life than it does with your frame of mind. If you can achieve a sense of gratefulness, then life’s big blows do not actually seem so bad after all. You see, it is about changing the way you look at things if you really want to feel better about your circumstances.
Change Your Mindset
If you want to grow more grateful, you have to reframe your mind. This might take a little bit of work, but it is an accomplishment that can be done. Rather than focusing on what you lose when life throws a curveball, focus on what you gained in between this curveball and your last. Simply changing your mindset can help you feel more grounded in your life and your personal accomplishments.
Do Not Compare Yourself
When we are constantly bombarded by pictures of other people’s seemingly perfect lives, it can be easy to lose sight of reality. Social media has done everyone the unwanted favor of making it way to easy to compare our lives to an unrealistic standard.
The truth is that most of what is shared on social media is the very best parts of people’s lives. None of us want to share the truth about the way our family is behind closed doors. So comparing your life to what your friends post on social media is counterproductive. It is a good way to make yourself feel like you are not grounded.
Let Go of What You Do Not Need
Sometimes, we have to let things go that are no longer doing us any good. Whether it is a friend who drags you down, or a habit that you want to kick, letting it go might be easier done than you think. Letting go of the things that hold you back can make you more appreciative of the things that are pushing you to be your very best. It might be hard to let go of these things, but letting them go is in the best interest for you.
Be Open Minded
Keep an open mind to whatever direction life might choose to take you next. You never truly know where life might lead and understanding this fact is a great way to help you appreciate the journey of life. By appreciating the journey of life, you may also feel a little more grounded and a little bit more prepared for whatever life throws your way next.
Final Thoughts
If you can learn to appreciate the things that life gives you that are good, then you might be able to feel a little more prepared for the inevitable seasons of bad. There is no such thing as a perfect life and if you spend your time worrying about what is going wrong, then you may never be able to appreciate all of the good things that life sends your way.
